Computational Pathology Postdoctoral Position

Monday 15th April 2019

Position
We seek applications for exceptional postdoctoral research fellows with an interest in developing deep learning and machine learning methods for pathology image analysis. Postdoctoral applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, computational biology, medicine, or a related field, a solid publication record and strong professional references. The ideal
candidate should have demonstrated experience in computer vision, analysis of pathology or other medical data, or a significant mathematical background to learn and develop new AI methods. Applicants willing to transition into biomedical data science are highly encouraged to apply. Only fresh PhDs will be considered. The initial appointment will be for one year with annual renewals will be based on performance.

Environment and Opportunities
The newly established Mahmood Lab (starting late April 2019) at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s hospital will aim to utilize machine learning, data fusion and medical image analysis to develop automated and objective mechanisms for reducing interobserver and intraobserver variability in cancer diagnosis. This involves the development of automated and objective methods to identify new clinically relevant morphologic phenotypes and biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and response to specific therapeutic agents. This will be achieved by fusing multimodal information from multiple imaging modalities, familial and patient histories and multiomics data to make more precise diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic determinations. Postdoctoral appointments will be at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s hospital. Extensive collaborative opportunities will be available across all academic and clinical departments at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Application Process
Qualified applicants should submit:
(1) Research statement (not to exceed 2 pages)
(2) Curriculum vitae
(3) Two most relevant publications
(4) Names and contact information of three individuals who can serve as references to:
