As a Research Scientist, this individual will be responsible for Medical Image algorithm design, implementation and testing in support of the Auris navigation program for medical interventions. He/she will work closely with other Research Scientists, Systems Engineers and Software Engineers to develop solutions to enable Auris instruments to safely navigate within a clinical environment. The position reports to the Director of Systems, Algorithms and Robotics.

Core Job Responsibilities: 
• Research and develop novel algorithms for image segmentation, registration, 3D reconstruction and visualization of medical image datasets 
• Implementation, testing and debugging of algorithms within the Auris Application software (C++) 
• Conduct Algorithm design review meetings 
• Evaluate new technologies and remain informed regarding state-of-art approaches in the field of Medical Image Computing. 
• Improve performance and robustness of existing algorithms 
• Other related duties as may be assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience: 
• 5-8 years’ working experience on implementing complex algorithms in a medical image setting. Candidates with Ph. D in Medical Image Computing, Biomedical Engineering, Image Analysis are preferred 
• Deep understanding and experience in state-of-art medical image analysis, image registration, machine learning, computer vision algorithms 
• Demonstrated experience dealing with clinical imaging datasets 
• Proficiency in C++ , ITK, VTK, OpenCV, Python 
• Experience with experimental design 
• Experience dealing with medical professionals to identify clinical problems and implement solutions 
• Software debugging experience 
• Experience dealing with medical robotics system desirable 
• Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills. 
• Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams. 
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
• Comfortable working with and seeking optimum solutions with other team members, as well as team members in adjacent disciplines. 
• Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.
