Postdoctoral Fellow in Medical Image Analysis

Position Highlights:

• The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Natarajan Raghunand ( Dr. Raghunand is a faculty member in the Department of Cancer Imaging & Metabolism (, the Director of Radiology Research, and the Scientific Director of the Image Response Assessment Team (IRAT) Core at the Moffitt Cancer Center.

• The candidate will have several opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research at the interface of Imaging Science, Radiology, Oncology and Cancer Biology. Active imaging studies in Dr. Raghunand’s group include: o Development of imaging response assessment biomarkers for sponsored clinical trials of investigational anti-cancer therapeutics (four different studies).

  • Development of prognostic and response biomarkers to immunotherapy (checkpoint inhibition) in cancer by quantitative analysis of standard-of-care MRI scans (one investigator-initiated clinical trial).
  • Development of a differential diagnostic for cancer by machine learning on multiparameter MRI scans (two retrospective clinical studies).
  • Multi-modality pre-clinical imaging study to develop prognostic and response biomarkers for novel anti-cancer immunotherapeutics.

• The candidate will be given opportunities to carry out research leading to potential first-authored peer-reviewed scientific publications in these and other projects.

• The candidate will be provided mentorship and support for career advancement.


The Ideal Candidate:

• Will have a doctoral degree in the areas of medical image analysis, computer vision or machine learning. • Will have published expertise in quantitative analysis of biomedical/radiologic images. • Will have strong skills in mathematics and programming.

• Will have good writing skills.



• Quantitative analysis of pre-clinical and clinical images to develop novel diagnostic tools for cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment planning

• Collaborate with other members of the group and department.

• Present research findings at internal group meetings.

• Present research findings at scientific conferences.

• Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

• Participate in the writing of research grant applications.


Credentials and Qualifications:

• A doctoral degree in a field such as Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
