Monogram Orthopaedics is looking for a software engineer with experience in computational geometric modeling to join our very small but motivated team of engineers bringing a new medical device to market. The company is located in Brooklyn, NY and offers a competitive salary with equity options and generous benefits.

 

Job Duties:

  • Development of algorithms to generate 3D surfaces subject to spatial and geometric constraints.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers and a team of engineers on designing application-specific solutions in shape modeling problems.
  • Utilize and/or customize existing large frameworks and code in disparate technology disciplines.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or any related field.

 

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency (2-6 years) in Python and C++.
  • Must be comfortable with linear algebra and differential geometry.
  • A love of computer graphics and computational shape modeling.
  • Experience working with polygon meshes (triangulated STLs preferred) and NURBS surfaces.
  • Self-motivated, driven, able to work independently, with an interest in working at a small startup.
  • Ability and desire to collaborate with colleagues on interesting and challenging problems outside of geometric modeling and programming.
  • Experience with collaborative development best practices and source control (git).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with open-source mesh processing frameworks (VTK, CGAL, OpenCASCADE etc.).
  • Experience with CAD kernels (OpenCascade, ASIS, etc.).
  • Experience with procedurally modeling shapes.
  • Experience developing algorithms in geometry processing (mesh smoothing, deformation, etc.).
  • Experience in image processing a plus.
  • Experience in WebGL or higher-level 3D frameworks (BabylonJS, Three.JS) a plus.
  • Experience with medical devices or computational biomedicine a plus.
