Research Associate in Medical Image Analysis

University of Manchester
Location:
Manchester, UK
Job Type:
Full Time
Closing Date:
Monday, February 25, 2019

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Medical Image Analysis in the Centre for Imaging Science, Division of Informatics, Imaging and Data Sciences at the University of Manchester. The post will be available from 1 April 2019 and will be tenable on a fixed-term basis for 30 months in the first instance.

You will join a thriving research group in the Centre for Imaging Sciences and take responsibility for a defined area of research, under the supervision of Professor Chris Taylor. You will contribute to an exciting collaboration with the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust to develop an inexpensive imaging and automated analysis system to support early diagnosis of systemic sclerosis – a painful, disabling disease affecting around 10,000 people in the UK. This will involve addressing some significant medical image analysis challenges, and working closely with the clinical team and patients to develop a system suitable for routine use.

You will hold a PhD, or be expected to do so by the time of commencing the post, or have equivalent experience, in a relevant area of numerate research. You should have a background in quantitative scientific data analysis, computer vision, medical image analysis, or machine learning and have previous experience in object-oriented programming, ideally in C++. Experience of scientific algorithm design, statistical evaluation and a developing publication record would be advantageous.

Interviews will be held on 7th March 2019
