Postdoc in machine learning and PET/CT/MRI
Postdoctoral researcher or research associate
Degree and area of specialization:
PhD is required in Computer Science, Statistics, Medical Physics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
The candidate should have experience in machine learning and computer vision applications. The candidate should have a strong background in statistics and computer programming. Experience with deep learning and medical imaging is preferred.
The individual hired will be part of the Image-Guided Therapy (IGT) research group in the department of Medical Physics, one of the premier Medical Physics programs in the world. The IGT group is led by Dr. Robert Jeraj, and is composed of scientists, postdoctoral researchers, software engineers, and graduate students, and focuses on clinical applications of molecular imaging for guiding therapies, understanding tumor resistance, and measuring tumor response to therapies. The individual hired will develop exciting new methods for automatically analyzing PET/CT and PET/MR images, and will develop models for predicting tumor response to therapy. As part of the Image Analysis Core, the candidate will work closely with researchers, physicians, and software engineers, and will work in collaborative projects with General Electric Healthcare.
Specific duties include:
-Developing new machine learning methods (eg, deep learning) for medical image analysis
-Preprocessing and analyzing medical images
-Working with software engineers to develop and optimize code
-Collaborating with other postdocs/graduate students on various projects
-Working with physicians, physicists, and imaging staff in data acquisition
-Writing progress reports to General Electric Healthcare
-Writing research articles in peer-reviewed journals
-Submitting abstracts to conferences; presenting at conferences
-Assisting in writing grant applications
-Skilled at writing and presenting in English
-Strong organizational, mentoring, and management skills
