PhD/Dissertation Position in Mathematics

Applications are invited for a

(1+2)-years PhD position

on part time (50 %) at the Chair for Scientific Computing, Institute for Mathematics of the Julius-Maximilians-University Wuerzburg, Germany. The compensation is based on the civil service collective agreement as per TV-L.

The goals of the PhD work are to develop and analyse Neural Networks with stochastic weights using numerical and analytical tools including optimisation, control theory, and statistics, and to apply the resulting methodologies to implement efficient learning procedures for solving inverse problems governed by differential models.

This research will be carried out promoting collaboration between mathematics, natural and social sciences, and medicine. The PhD candidate is expected to attend courses appropriate to the aforementioned goals.

PhD Applicants must hold a Master Degree in Mathematics (Informatics, Natural Sciences, Engineering) with distinct interests in the topics mentioned above.
