Postdoctoral Fellow in Biomedical Image Analysis / Digital Pathology (National Research Council of Canada)
Monday 1st March 2021
Closing Date: 19 March 2021
Description: NRC is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to carry out research to advance the use of digital pathology to study neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Recent advances in whole-slide imaging microscopy generate large series of digital microscopy images with ultrahigh resolutions, however, quantitative 3D analysis remains a bottleneck. To generate 3D microscopic maps of the tissue block, these images need to be spatially aligned, which is problematic since the images are distorted due to global and local deformation. In this project, we aim to:
1. Develop a comprehensive toolkit of computational methods to spatially align these slides for 3D reconstruction; and
2. Apply this framework to map the inflammatory processes associated with neurodegeneration in a mouse model of AD.
The successful candidate will work closely with teams in Digital Technologies, Human Health Therapeutics, and Nanotechnology Research Centres.
