Open position: The Department of Radiology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invite applicants for a full-time position at the postdoctoral research fellow level.

Topic: The funded project involves computational neuroscience and multi-modal brain MRI (structural, diffusion, functional) studies to understand how maternal diet interacts with socioeconomics status, and other factors to affect offspring’s brain development and neurocognitive functions. The postdoctoral fellow will be hosted in HMS/BCH (neuroradiology, data science, neuroscience) and collaborate closely with Abbott Inc (nutrition, data science), with a multidisciplinary team of experts in academia and industry. The project involves advanced image analysis, machine learning, data science, outcome prediction, precision nutrition, and academia-industry collaborations. It will also link a typical and relatively small-sample study (~150 participants) with big data analytics on brain MRI (>10,000).

Candidate qualifications: The successful candidate will be in the final year of PhD or have a PhD degree in Computational Neuroscience, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields. Experience in brain MRI analysis and computational neuroscience is preferred.

Timeframe: The starting date can be as early as December 1st, 2021. The position will be open until filled. The initial period is 2 years given satisfactory progress evaluated at the end of each year. Continuous stay beyond 2 years is possible, and we will encourage and help the fellow to apply for his/her own funding for further career development.

Benefit: Time off includes 3-4 weeks paid vacation, paid holiday break, paid sick days. Medical/dental/vision insurance plans are offered at a heavily discounted rate. Other benefits include a retirement plan, tuition assistance program, transportation (50% discounted MBTA pass), wellness option, and others, all complying with Boston Children’s Hospital’s guidelines.
