Description McGill University, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is currently seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor Applied Artificial Intelligence – defined broadly. Exceptional candidates at other ranks will also be considered.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in applications of machine learning approaches to Engineering Sciences, including Computer Vision, Medical Imaging and Multi-modal Understanding.

The expected start date is August 1, 2022.

The successful candidate will be expected to build an internationally-competitive group that conducts high-quality research, securing internal and external funding in support of their equipment and research team building needs.

The Department is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate and graduate programs in Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering and values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession and society at large.

Candidates should have or soon expect a Ph.D., preferably with an undergraduate degree in electrical, computer or software engineering. Evidence of outstanding research achievements is indispensable, particularly in the areas of applied machine learning, reinforcement learning, artificial intelligence or related fields – this should be demonstrated, in part, with a strong publication record in top-tier ML/AI and application-oriented venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, ICRA, CVPR, MICCAI, IROS, ICCV, ECCV, SIGGRAPH). This venue list is not comprehensive, and other top-tier domain-specific venues will also be considered, given the growing breadth of areas that can leverage modern machine learning techniques.
