We are pleased to share important news as we look ahead to MICCAI 2027 and MICCAI 2028 when we will bring our community to two exciting regions of the globe, reflecting our continued growth, diversity and international reach.

MICCAI 2027

MICCAI 2027 - Auckland, New Zealand

Following announcements made at MICCAI 2025, we are pleased to confirm that MICCAI 2027 will be hosted in Auckland, New Zealand from September 27 to October 1, 2027. MICCAI 2027 will also mark a milestone as the 30th edition of the MICCAI conference.

With the theme “From the Pacific to the World: Driving MICCAI’s Impact Towards Equitable Healthcare.” Through engagement with the global MICCAI community, MICCAI 2027 will foster dialogue on how research and innovation can contribute to improved healthcare outcomes, including for island Pacific nations, and encourage collaborative, sustainable partnerships beyond the conference.

The Organizing Committee, led by General Chairs Jichao Zhao, Gabor Fichtinger and Stamatia (Matina) Giannarou, is preparing a program that emphasizes the translation of MICCAI innovations into real-world, deployable technologies that address pressing healthcare needs globally.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Auckland, New Zealand, where innovation meets natural beauty, MICCAI 2027 will offer a unique opportunity for the global community to connect, exchange ideas, and help shape the future of medical AI and computer-assisted interventions.

We are excited to announce that MICCAI 2028 will be held in São Paulo, Brazil from October 16-20, 2028, marking the first time the conference will take place in-person in Latin America.

Guided by the theme “Global MICCAI – Building MIC & CAI Everywhere”, MICCAI 2028 will bring together researchers, clinicians and industry partners from the MIC and CAI communities to spotlight work being done across diverse regions, resources and clinical settings. It will create opportunities to strengthen global networks and generate new ideas to improve healthcare worldwide.

We congratulate to the Organizing Committee and General Chairs Natasha Leporé, Leticia Rittner and Marius George Linguraru whose proposal was selected through a competitive bid process. Their vision for MICCAI 2028 stood out for its scientific potential, global inclusivity and leadership bench strength.

We look forward to welcoming the community to São Paulo - a dynamic, multicultural city with a world class scientific community and a unique energy.
