Description POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW – DEVELOPING LONGITUDINAL DEEP LEARNING DEFORMABLE IMAGE REGISTRATION WITH VIRTUAL DIGITAL TWINS FOR PANCREATIC CANCERS

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY

An opening is now available for a postdoctoral researcher in the department of medical physics for individuals interested in combining deep learning with longitudinal registration of MRI images for ablative radiation treatments. The two-year project will focus on the development and validation of new deep learning deformable image registration methods applied to longitudinal analysis of pancreatic cancer patient MRI scans obtained before, during, and immediately after radiation treatment. The project will involve development and rigorous validation of the AI models for potential clinical translation and application to dose accumulation and adaptive radiation treatments. Specifically, the project will entail development of algorithms that would work in multiple MRI contrasts with images subject to a variety of motions including breathing, peristalsis, and random anatomy variations by combining new AI methodologies for deformable image registration as well as synthesis of virtual digital twins for validating such methods. Development will involve close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of computer scientists, medical physicists, MR physicists and radiation oncologists.
This is an excellent opportunity for a researcher with a PhD in biomedical engineering, medical physics, or computer science background interested in working on interesting problems involving motion modeling, MRI analysis, as well as methods to develop rigorous validation of AI models for clinical trial and ultimately for use in routine clinical patient care.
Ideal candidates must have a strong programming background (Python and Matlab) and be familiar with deep learning libraries (e.g. Pytorch/Keras). Knowledge of machine learning and/or medical image analysis is required. Prior experience in MR image analysis, image registration or computer vision-based applications is highly desirable. Excellent written and communication skills are required. Successful completion of the project is expected to result in high quality technical publications.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, NY, and is recognized as a world leader in clinical cancer care and research. Interested candidates should send a resume and list of three references via e-mail to:
