Description Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a joint entry level computer science developer position in the dos Santos and Tollkuhn labs, for a collaborative project investigating hormonal regulation of gene expression in the mammary gland and brain, respectively. This position is ideal for a recent college graduate looking to gain research experience before transitioning to a graduate program or the biotech industry.
Position Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage and support the analysis of genomic sequencing datasets such as Cut&Run, ATAC-seq, and scRNAseq. They will be responsible for running and building analytical pipelines, ensuring proper data storage and backup, and supporting computational analysis of other lab members and collaborators. The candidate will be required to be diligent in finding technical solutions and in keeping rigorous and reproducible records of processes and datasets.
The dos Santos and Tollkuhn labs promote and support a safe and inclusive environment for the advancement of trainees of all races, ethnicities, abilities and identities. Our interdisciplinary research team has extensive expertise on normal mammary gland and brain development, neural circuits and behavior, mouse models of breast cancer, bioinformatics, single cell analysis, and murine- and human-derived breast organoids. We offer opportunities for trainees to develop writing skills, scientific outreach, and mentorship of high school and undergraduate students. From a scientific perspective, we emphasize the conduct of innovative, rigorous and reproducible research, and promote collaborative opportunities, as the mean to support leadership and career development opportunities.

Position Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as: bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, physics, mathematics, or biology, and at least 1 year working in an academic or commercial environment on bioinformatics problems.
EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate for this role must possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Candidates should have specialization in bioinformatics, computational science, statistics and/or mathematics. Experience with R scripts, Python, and other command-line interfaces are encouraged.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
