Description The Danube Private University (DPU) in Krems-Stein an der Donau, Lower Austria, was the first private university in Austria to receive accreditation for a department of medicine/dentistry. The university can draw on a wealth of experience in undergraduate studies and postgraduate Master of Science in Specialisation (MSc) programmes, and has gained outstanding international recognition. At DPU it is also possible to complete a scientific doctoral degree in dentistry (PhD). DPU also has the right to award habilitations in dentistry.
The Research Center for Medical Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence (MIAAI) (https://www.dpu-research-miaai.at/) at the DPU was founded in 2022 and currently comprises eight multidisciplinary researchers who focus on the computer-based analysis of radiological and histological images and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence for tasks such as the prediction of treatment response in different types of cancers and automated image segmentation. MIAAI is currently located in Krems and will move to Wiener Neustadt in early 2024.
The Research Center MIAAI is looking for a permanent part-time or full-time scientist with a PhD in computer science, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics or a related field to join its Computational Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence team. Good knowledge of Python and experience in deep learning and with computational image analysis - ideally in the medical field including radiomics – are required. We are expecting enthusiasm to learn new things and enjoy supporting the team through a collaborative approach. The successful candidate will be involved in different research projects mainly related to oncological imaging (some to be worked on independently and others jointly with other team members) and will publish scientific work in internation peer reviewed journals. Very good communication skills in English are required, both oral and written.
Salaries will be based on the standard personnel costs and salaries of the FWF published for 2023. The possibility of partly working from home can be discussed.
