Description We are seeking a motivated PhD candidate to join the Medical Deep Learning Group (Prof. Dr. Mattias Heinrich) for a BMBF-funded project on AI-driven multimodal image fusion and visualization in neoadjuvant breast cancer therapy. The work involves developing deep learning methods to combine ultrasound and mammography into patient-specific 3D models that support surgical planning and treatment monitoring.
The candidate will conduct research in medical image analysis and deep learning, publish results at international venues, collaborate with clinical and industrial partners (UKSH and EchoScout GmbH), and contribute to the development of a real-time demonstrator. Applicants should hold a Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, have strong English skills, and ideally experience in image processing or AI.
