Description We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow to work on several projects within the Laboratory for Ex vivo Modeling of Neuroanatomy (https://lemon.martinos.org). The fellow will be supervised by Juan Eugenio Iglesias and work on one or more projects with collaborators from MGH Radiology, the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, MIT, UW, and/or the Allen Institute for Brain Sciences. Potential topics include:
- Deep generative models of pathology.
- Analysis of heterogeneous clinical brain MRI.
- Analysis of brain MRI acquired with low-field, portable devices.
- Analysis of high-resolution ex vivo MRI scans.
- Registration across scales (MRI / histology).
- Longitudinal analysis.
- Improvements to our recently released NextBrain atlas (Casamitjana, …, & Iglesias: “A
probabilistic histological atlas of the human brain for MRI segmentation”, Nature, 2025).
The position is initially for two years, with possibility of extension. The salary range is $87,000-92.5000/year, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Developing machine learning algorithms for image analysis.
- Development and support of open-source code.
- Preparing submissions to journals and conferences.
- Presenting their work in meetings and conferences.
- Assisting with preparation of grant applications.
Desired qualifications:
- PhD in computer science, engineering, neuroscience, or related field.
- Machine learning expertise.
- Experience with brain MRI or at least other volumetric medical imaging modalities.
- Experience with Python and Torch.
