The MICCAI Student Board is excited to host a series of events during the MICCAI 2024 conference. These events provide participants with valuable opportunities to network with fellow MICCAI members, make new connections, and enjoy the vibrant city of Marrakech. Additionally, the Student Board will organise academic sessions aimed at enriching the professional and academic growth of its members. Exploring Marrakech! Full Day Guided City & Gardens Tour
Friday 11th October (10am – 4pm) - €55 per person
The full day tour leads participants on a rich journey to historical sites in the city of Marrakesh. Join us for a tour of the City and Gardens, led by local expert guides! The tour includes a visit to the Bahia Palace, which offers a stunning example of 19th-century Moroccan architecture. This will be followed by a visit to the serene Ben Youssef Madrasa, adorned with intricate tilework from the 14th century. In the afternoon, participants will explore the new city, visiting the Majorelle Gardens, a beautiful oasis created by Jacques Majorelle, Yves Saint-Laurent, and Pierre Bergé. The day concludes at the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square, where centuries of history come alive amidst bustling markets and captivating street performances.
Marrakech Cultural Food Tasting Tour with Three-Course Dinner
Thursday 10th October (7-10pm) - €40 per person
Explore the city through your taste buds and experience the culinary delights of Marrakech! The 3/4-hour food tour will begin after the conference day on Thursday 10 October, offering an introduction to Moroccan history, cultural traditions, and local gastronomy. Participants can try Moroccan cuisine and learn about its history from knowledgeable tour guides. The tour will feature three tasting stops from local vendors, followed by a delicious three-course dinner! The tour is designed to accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets (and other dietary restrictions).
Soccer Match
Wednesday 9th October (6:30-9pm) - €10 per person
Join us for our annual MICCAI soccer match, taking place on two soccer pitches for playing 5 vs 5 on each. The match will take place after the conference day on Wednesday, in which participants will be transported to and from the event. All fitness levels are welcome!
Morning Runs
Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th October (starting at 7am)
Join us for a morning runs before the conference, commencing outside of the conference centre. It's a great opportunity to connect with fellow MICCAI attendees, invigorate your spirit, and set the pace for the day! All fitness levels welcome!
MSB Lunch & PhD Thesis Madness
Tuesday 8th October (starting at 12:30pm)
PhD Thesis Madness allows final-year PhD students and recently finished doctorates to showcase their groundbreaking work with a 3-minute presentation. The event will take place during the lunch, offering the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and construct new ideas. Visit our website to find out more about the Thesis Madness event! We will also announce the winner of the MICCAI Educational Challenge during the MSB Lunch! The MICCAI Educational Challenge is still open to submissions, with the winner receiving $300! EMERGE Workshop
Sunday 6th October
EMERGE is the first workshop organised by the MICCAI Student Board. The half-day workshop is organised by students for students, allowing participants to present their research and gain feedback from our expert panel on their journey to become independent investigators and mentors. These papers will be published in Springer’s CCIS format, and the most outstanding contributions will be invited to expand their work for potential publication in MELBA. Academia & Industry Panel and Networking Event
Mon 7th October (starting at 6pm)
We are hosting our beloved academic and industry event to support the career development of our members through insightful discussions and networking opportunities. The event will involve a panel discussion on career development and the differences between academic and corporate career opportunities. Moreover, the A&I event will contain a networking session, where participants can network with many leading figures in academia and industry. Drinks and refreshments will be provided during the event.
Photography Contest
Take part in our annual photography challenge, where the winner is decided by public vote! To join the competition, tag @MICCAIStudents with your photos or videos that best captures the spirit of MICCAI 2024! The winner will be unveiled at the MICCAI 2024 closing ceremony and will receive exciting surprise goodies!
