Recognizing Outstanding Innovation and Dedication to the MICCAI Community

Tuesday 8th October 2024

As the MICCAI community gathered to celebrate at the MICCAI 2024 Gala Dinner, we proudly announced the 2024 MICCAI Fellows and the 2024 Enduring Impact Award recipient. This recognition us reminds of the collective effort required to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.

2024 Enduring Impact Award

Established in 2009, the Enduring Impact Award is given to an individual who has made a significant and enduring impact on the field through originality, successful clinical applications, publications and dissemination and involvement in conferences, societies and education.

We are pleased to present Daniel Rueckert, TU Munich, with the 2024 Enduring Impact Award.

DRueckert2

Dr. Rueckert has pioneered new areas in nonrigid registration, deep-learning for MR reconstruction and real time image/video super-reconstruction strategies.

He has been published in over 600 peer-reviewed publications with more than 105,000 citations. He is an active editorial and advisory board member of many journals including IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging (Associate Editor) and Medical Image Analysis (Senior Editor).

He currently supervises 28 PhD students and has previously supervised more than 55 PhD students. He teaches Machine Learning for Imaging, Operating Systems, Computer Graphics and Medical Image Computing and has received the Outstanding Teacher Award for three consecutive years from ISMRM.

He was the Program Co-Chair of MICCAI 2009, ISBI 2012 and WBIR 2012 and General Co-Chair of MMBIA 2006 and FIMH 2013 and has been a regular reviewer for numerous conferences.

He is an IEEE Fellow (2015), a MICCAI Fellow (2014), a Fellow in the Royal Academy of Engineering (2015), the Academy of Medical Sciences (2019) and a member of the German Academy of Sciences, Leopoldina (2023).
