Calls for Papers, Workshops, Tutorials and Challenges at MICCAI 2025

Thursday 31st October 2024

The MICCAI conference will take place this year in Daejeon, South Korea. This venue epitomizes global collaboration, interdisciplinary initiatives, and scientific diversity in medical image computing and computer-assisted interventions.

We welcome engineers, scientists, health practitioners, industry actors, policymakers and researchers at all career levels from across the globe to take part in this new MICCAI edition. Join us in Daejeon, a hub of science and technology in the center of South Korea for an invigorating and memorable scientific gathering.

Call for Papers:

In addition to exploring the latest advancements in the field, MICCAI 2025 will highlight translational solutions to real-world clinical challenges. The theme “From Concept to Clinical” will include special sessions devoted to clinical translation, many of which have been successfully established over the last two years, clinical tutorials for engineers, and live demonstrations from local and international start-ups. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant city of Daejeon, MICCAI 2025 will emphasize a pan-Asian connection by facilitating community discussion, broadcasting to researchers in nearby countries, and highlighting the needs of underrepresented countries in Asia.

Submission deadlines:

  • Abstract registration: 6 February 2025
  • Submission deadline: 20 February 2025 (All times are 23:59 Pacific Time)

Call for Workshops:

We are soliciting proposals for workshops to be held in conjunction with MICCAI 2025. The workshops will take place on September 23 and 27 at the main conference venue, each organized as a half-day (AM or PM) or full-day in-person event. The workshops should gather focused groups of researchers to foster engaging discussions and exchange knowledge on a specific area of interest to the MICCAI community.

Due to space and time limitations, as well as to encourage diversity of topic coverage, only a limited number of proposals will be accepted. In the case of small attendance or similar workshop proposals, workshops might be merged with other workshops, or moved to a fully separate satellite event.

Workshop organizers are expected to articulate a plan detailing the management of all administrative aspects, following the selection criteria below, and to be submitted by January 9, 2025.

Call for Tutorials:

We are soliciting proposals for tutorials to be held with MICCAI 2025. The tutorials will take place on September 23 and 27 at the main conference venue, each organized as a half-day (AM or PM) or full-day in-person event.

Tutorials are educational sessions offered by expert researchers and scientists on topics relevant to the MICCAI community. The purpose of tutorials is to provide educational materials for all career levels. Tutorials should focus on a specific theme, e.g., methodology, clinical application, emerging technologies, or software tools, and organizers should explain why the theme is timely and of interest to the MICCAI community.

The tutorial format may combine mini-lectures, demonstrations, hands-on sessions, and hackathons. Topics relevant to MICCAI for global health and proposals from underrepresented regions are strongly encouraged.

Due to space and time limitations, as well as the need to encourage diversity of topic coverage, only a limited number of proposals will be accepted. In the case of small attendance or similar tutorial proposals, tutorials might be canceled or suggested to be merged with other tutorials.

Tutorial organizers are expected to articulate a plan detailing the management of all administrative aspects, following the selection criteria, and must be submitted by January 9, 2025.

Call for Challenges:

MICCAI Challenges aim to provide a fair and robust environment for evaluating solutions to common problems in our field. Challenges have become a cornerstone of the MICCAI conference, bringing together diverse teams from around the world to work on common benchmarks and share ideas. This enables rapid advancements of the state-of-the-art and efficient dissemination of new results.

We are pleased to announce the Call for Challenges for the MICCAI 2025 conference in Daejeon, Korea. We invite researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals to propose innovative challenges that address current problems in medical image analysis and computer-assisted interventions. We welcome challenges in all areas relevant to MICCAI, including but not limited to:

  • Medical image segmentation, registration, and reconstruction
  • Computer-aided diagnosis and prognosis
  • Image-guided interventions and robotics
  • Machine learning and deep learning in medical imaging
  • Multi-modal image analysis
  • Computational anatomy and physiology
  • Surgical planning and simulation

Proposals that address issues of fairness, global health, and barriers to translation are especially welcome.

MICCAI supports open data; hence, we encourage the organizers to use open-source data licenses and/or keep the challenge open to submissions beyond the conference, providing a sustained platform for benchmarking. Challenge Proposal Submissions must be received by January 9, 2025.
