Call for applications to join the Women in MICCAI (WiM) Board
Dear MICCAI Community
The Women in MICCAI (WiM) Board was approved and established by the MICCAI Society in October 2016. Since then, WiM's mission has been to strengthen and widen the representation of female scientists in the MICCAI community, in coordination with the MICCAI Society Board. Events are organized throughout the year and in conjunction with the MICCAI Society annual conference.
We are soliciting applications for the 2025-2027 WiM Board. Open roles are listed below.
In addition to the specific duties listed, all WiM Board members meet monthly to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WiM community. Membership on the WiM Board requires membership in the MICCAI Society and participation at previous MICCAI conferences. Membership will take effect on July 1, 2025, and for a term of two years.
WiM Board President
- Coordinate all functions of the Board;
- Promote and conduct public relations;
- Co-organize annual events with the WiM Annual Event Executive;
- Work with the MICCAI Society Board liaison officer to interact with the broader MICCAI community and MICCAI Society Board;
- Work with the WiM Advisor to set long term visions for WiM;
- Assign responsibilities to members;
- Supervise the development of WiM programs.
WiM Secretary
- Schedule meetings of the Board;
- Assist the WiM President in preparing agendas for the meetings and circulate agendas in advance of meetings;
- Keep an accurate record of all meetings of the Board and prepare draft minutes to be edited by the President and circulate the minutes to WiM Board Members;
- Promote and conduct public relations.
- Participate in monthly Board meetings to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WIM community.
WiM Annual Event Executive
- Lead the organization of annual WiM MICCAI events;
- Solicit ideas from the community and WiM Board, and identify MICCAI Board members to liaison with;
- Organize the agenda of the event, invite speakers, lead the event and solicit feedback;
- Participate in monthly Board meetings to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WIM community.
WiM Public Outreach and Membership Officer (MSc and PhD students can apply for this role)
- Present content and maintain social media presence of WiM on a monthly basis including web page content, Google group memberships, newsletter, Twitter, and Facebook;
- Make announcements about the events, polls, introducing keynote speakers and reaching out to new members;
- Participate in monthly Board meetings to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WIM community.
WiM Elections Officer (Can be selected from Ex-officio of the Board)
- Serves as the honorary elections officer for WiM at the time of election;
- Participate in monthly Board meetings to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WIM community.
WiM Community Engagement Officer (MSc and PhD students can apply for this role)
- Maintain a discussion and participate in meetings with other boards within the MICCAI Society (e.g.. RISE, MSB);
- Engage in a debate with other existing women and/or minority groups in the scientific community;
- Participate in monthly Board meetings to plan future events and discuss initiatives important to the WIM community.

The application includes a one-page CV and a short statement (one-page maximum), both in pdf format, highlighting past and current involvement with MICCAI and experience in promoting diversity in the MICCAI Society and/or elsewhere. We encourage applications from all genders, racial and ethnic groups, and career stages. Short-listed candidates will be contacted by email for an interview. Final decision on positions will be made in June 2025.
