Call for Doctoral Consortium at MICCAI 2025

We are excited to announce the first-ever Doctoral Consortium at a MICCAI conference, organized by the MICCAI Student Board. This event will be held in-person at the MICCAI 2025 main conference in Daejeon, South Korea.

The Doctoral Consortium offers a multi-format experience focused on academic exchange, feedback, and career development through:

  1. Doctoral Research Poster Session: Posters will be presented alongside the main MICCAI scientific poster sessions, giving participants the opportunity to share the core ideas of their doctoral research.
  2. PhD Thesis Madness Competition: A lively lunchtime event on the second day of the conference, where selected participants will deliver a 3-minute oral presentation summarizing their thesis, with winners recognized at the MICCAI 2025 closing ceremony.
  3. MICCAI Emerging Scholars Collection: A digital abstract book featuring accepted participants and their abstracts, published online and designed to increase their visibility within the academic community and among potential employers in both academia and industry.
  4. Publication Opportunity: The 8-page research reports submitted to the consortium are tentatively planned for publication in the MICCAI 2025 Doctoral Consortium Proceedings as part of the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series (subject to final confirmation).
Eligibility Criteria

Open to PhD students expecting to graduate within 6 months after the symposium, or PhD graduates who completed their degree in 2024 or 2025.

Submission Details

Participants must submit a single PDF, which includes, in order:

  • Abstract (maximum 250 words)
  • PhD research summary (8 pages, excluding references.
  • CV (up to 2 pages)

Separately, a reference letter from the thesis supervisor should be submitted directly by the supervisor.

Note that all accepted submissions will be presented as posters, during the Doctoral Research Poster Session, with their abstracts included in the MICCAI Emerging Scholars Collection. Only the top-ranked submissions will be invited to participate in the PhD Thesis Madness Competition.

Notification of Acceptance: August 15, 2025
Camera-ready Draft: August 22, 2025
