MICCAI Conference Proposed as ELLIS Publication Venue
Tuesday 27th January 2026
Dear MICCAI Community,
We would like to inform you of a proposal submitted to the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS) requesting that the annual MICCAI Society conference be formally recognized as an ELLIS Publication Venue within the ELLIS ecosystem.
This proposal has been prepared by Prof. Alejandro Frangi and Dr. Claudia Lindner, and aims to acknowledge the MICCAI conference as a leading international venue at the intersection of machine learning, medical imaging, and computer-assisted interventions, with scientific standards and impact comparable to other top-tier AI conferences currently recognized by ELLIS.
The Board of the MICCAI Society fully supports this initiative for the following reasons:
- Increases the international visibility and prestige of MICCAI as a leading AI and medical imaging conference.
- Strengthens the academic value of MICCAI papers for hiring, promotion, and funding evaluations, especially in Europe.
- Aligns MICCAI with other top-tier AI conferences recognized by ELLIS.
- Encourages stronger collaboration between the MICCAI and ELLIS research communities.
- Highlights the high scientific quality and impact of research published at MICCAI.
We invite you as a member of the MICCAI community to review the proposal and, if you are supportive, to add your name to the petition:
Your support will help show broad community support for recognizing the annual MICCAI conference as a leading AI research venue.
With best regards,
Xiahai Zhuang
On behalf of the MICCAI Society Board
