MSB Presents EMERGE 2026
Tuesday 23rd June 2026
We are pleased to invite you to EMERGE 2026, the third MICCAI Student Board EMERGE Workshop, held in conjunction with MICCAI 2026 in Strasbourg, France.
Organized by young scientists for young scientists, EMERGE supports student-led and early-career research across the full breadth of medical image computing and computer-assisted interventions. It offers a welcoming environment to present your work, receive guidance from senior MICCAI researchers, and connect with peers and potential collaborators.
Unlike workshops focused on a single technical area, EMERGE is centered on the development of both the research and the researcher. Our review process is constructive and developmental. Submissions are evaluated on their own merits, with feedback aimed at helping authors improve their work. Promising papers may be revised and resubmitted during the rebuttal period.
We welcome contributions in areas including image reconstruction, segmentation, diagnosis, surgical data science, robotic interventions, foundation models, and generative AI. New datasets, benchmarking studies, and work addressing region-specific challenges are also encouraged. We particularly welcome submissions from underrepresented regions and groups.
The program will include mentorship-oriented oral and poster sessions, career development activities, and a keynote by Dr. Camila González (Medical University of Vienna) focused on the broader professional experience of early-career researchers. We are also exploring thematic coordination with the METIS workshop on clinical translation.
Accepted papers will gain visibility through workshop presentations and promotion across the MICCAI Student Board’s social media channels. The three best papers will receive awards. Accepted full papers will be published in the Springer LNCS proceedings, and selected papers will be invited to submit an extended version to MELBA, The Journal of Machine Learning for Biomedical Imaging.
Key dates (23:59 Pacific Time):
- Paper submission due: June 30, 2026
- Reviews released: July 9, 2026
- Rebuttal deadline: July 14, 2026
- Final decisions: July 21, 2026
