Memories of MICCAI 2025

Bringing our community together in Daejeon, South Korea for MICCAI was truly a joyful and unforgettable experience. It was an honor to host the conference here, and I am deeply moved by the heartfelt feedback from participants. My gratitude goes to everyone who shared their time, ideas, and energy to make this gathering possible.
As the very first MICCAI held in Korea, it was inspiring to see local researchers unite under the themes From Concept to Clinical and Pan-Asian Connection. Their passion lit up the event and resonated far beyond Korea, carried forward by the incredible spirit of the 67 volunteers who worked tirelessly as part of the Organizing Committee. Together, we created something special — a celebration of science, collaboration, and community that will be remembered for years to come.
MICCAI 2025 by the numbers
Registration hit a new record with 3,348 attending the main conference – an increase of 37.5% over MICCAI 2024. Delegates came from many countries with the top five being South Korea, China, United States, Germany and the UK.
We received a record number of paper submissions - 3,677 in total – representing a 28% increase over the previous year. These papers were reviewed by 187 Area Chairs and 2417 reviewers, resulting in 1027 accepted papers, 76 oral presentations and 36 poster highlights. It’s exciting to note that 76% of the papers were written by first-time authors - proof that our community is growing!

Responses to our post-conference survey told us that attendees were very pleased with their experience at MICCAI 2025, awarding the conference an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars. Poster sessions and poster spotlights stood out for many attendees while the Gala Dinner and Lunch events (WiM, RISE, etc) were particularly memorable. And who could forget the MICCAI 2025 song – "South Korea, let me go!"
