Spotlight on MICCAI 2025

By Jinah Park, General Co-Chair

jinahparkThe time is fast approaching, and we can’t wait to welcome you and the whole MICCAI community to Daejeon for an unforgettable MICCAI 2025. I would first like to express my sincere appreciation to the Organizing Committee, whose tireless efforts are shaping an exceptional program designed to foster both learning and collaboration. On their behalf, I’m excited to share a few recent updates and highlights that we hope will spark your enthusiasm for MICCAI 2025.

Scientific Program Update

The Program Committee has now concluded their rigorous review of close to 3,500 submissions. This was a tremendous undertaking, and we’re incredibly grateful to the more than 2,500 volunteer reviewers whose hard work made this possible.

Acceptance notifications have now been sent to the authors of 1014 papers, recording an acceptance rate of 29% which is in line with past MICCAI conferences.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the authors of the accepted papers. At the same time, we would like to acknowledge and thank all authors who submitted their work. The selection process was highly selective due to the exceptional quality of submissions. Every contribution helped shape a strong and diverse scientific program.

The Pan-Asian Connection

With MICCAI 2025 being hosted in South Korea, a central theme of this year’s conference is the Pan-Asian Connection - aimed at fostering greater inclusion of historically underrepresented researchers from across Asia. In support of this theme, two new initiatives have been introduced.

Highlight Session: Challenges and Opportunities of Medical AI in Asia

Asia is home to more than half of the world’s population, offering unparalleled opportunities for developing robust and generalizable AI models. The region is also witnessing a rapid expansion of collaborative research and clinical innovation, making it a fertile ground for piloting innovative medical AI solutions.

In this context, MICCAI 2025 is excited to present a new Highlight Session: “Challenges and Opportunities of Medical AI in Asia.” This special session brings together distinguished experts from South Korea, Japan, China, Singapore, Mongolia, and Nepal, who will share their insights on the current landscape, real-world experiences, and forward-looking perspectives on AI integration in healthcare across Asia.

Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse challenges faced and the transformative opportunities being explored in one of the most dynamic regions shaping the future of medical AI.

MICCAI 2025 Supporters Outreach Program

We invited students and young researchers, based in the Pan-Asian region (south/south-east Asia, central Asia, middle east Asia) to apply to be a Supporter in the MICCAI 2025 Supporters Program. Selected supporters will publicize MICCAI 2025 events through online channels in their own communities. Applications closed on June 6 and we received a strong response with 24 applications from 12 countries. Five individuals will be selected based on their university-affiliation, diversity and involvement with MICCAI. Training will be provided to help them raise awareness in their networks. In return, they will receive free registration for the MICCAI conference.

Thank you to our sponsors

Our Sponsorship Committee has worked diligently to engage these partners, and we sincerely thank them for their outstanding efforts - especially during a time of economic uncertainty.
