Gearing up for MICCAI 2023
By Tanveer Syeda-Mahmood, General Chair
Preparations for MICCAI 2023 are well underway…. and we’re getting excited! This year's conference will be held from Oct 8-12 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, which is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, Canada and situated on the waterfront with a dramatic mountain backdrop.
“Members of the Conference Organizing Committee and Program Committee are dedicated to ensuring that MICCAI 2023 delivers exceptional learning, information sharing and networking opportunities,” said Tanveer Syeda-Mahmood, General Chair. “With the paper submission deadline already behind us, reviewers will now begin the important job of reviewing close to 2,400 papers – that’s a record! Thank you and good luck to everyone who submitted a paper!”
Among the new features of MICCAI 2023 is the clinical translation track emphasizing the move of MIC and CAI research from theory to practice by reflecting the real-world impact of the field in clinical workflows. In addition, a dual-track format is being introduced to accommodate the growth in the breadth of topics and companion events.
Keynote speakers have been confirmed! We look forward to hosting three innovators and trail blazers in the fields of machine learning, deep learning and image-guided robotics. These include Turing Award winner Yann LeCun, VP and Chief AI Scientist at Meta and Silver Professor at NYU, Jocelyne Troccaz, MICCAI Fellow and Enduring Impact Award winner from CNRS, Grenoble, France and Mihaela van der Schaar, Professor of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Medicine at Cambridge University.
The Conference Program is also starting to take shape and is promising to deliver another year of excellent satellite events on more than 85 topics covered in challenges, workshops and tutorials as well as networking opportunities. Watch the conference website for the up-to-date program taking shape.
The MICCAI Society Start-Up Village will take place for the fourth consecutive year with this year’s theme being “Trustworthy AI for Clinical Translation”. Six participants will have the opportunity to present their start-up company to a jury of experts in an exciting live pitch competition.
The Women in MICCAI (WiM) and RISE-MICCAI committees are making plans for their lunch event which will be held during the main conference. Panelists and guest speakers have been invited – more details to come.
We can rely on the MICCAI Student Board to organize many fun social and sports events in the area. The Vancouver Convention Centre is located near some great sites such as Stanley Park, Granville Island Public Market, Grouse Mountain and the University of British Columbia so there will be lots to see and do.
