Hello MICCAI Community,

If you are receiving more messages from me and the Board, it is because much has changed over the past weeks, and we want to keep you informed and engaged in important decisions that impact our annual conference and the Society. Many of you have questions about MICCAI 2026, and we are committed to addressing them in a timely manner. 

Update on MICCAI 2026

The Board has been working closely with the Organizing Committee of MICCAI 2026 and our professional conference organizer, DEKON Group, to address our shared concerns regarding the conference location and safety. We are actively monitoring updates from international authorities and local partners, and are evaluating the potential need for relocation.

We have prepared answers to frequently asked questions and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels on email and social media as soon as information becomes available.

Some of you have asked whether MICCAI 2026 will be canceled. We reassure you that our annual meeting will take place in person.  A final decision regarding the conference location will be communicated before paper acceptances are announced in early May.

We have much to celebrate for MICCAI 2026, and my gratitude goes first to the Organizing Committee who have worked tirelessly to prepare an exceptional conference. As you will read in the MICCAI 2026 update, a remarkable milestone has been achieved when 4,600 papers were submitted for review - a 25% increase over last year. Congratulations to all the authors! We are also grateful for the dedication of the 4,400 expert reviewers and 244 Area Chairs who have started evaluating these submissions.
