MSB Brief: Stats and Session Highlights

We have received many amazing submissions for our EMERGE workshop, our MICCAI Educational Challenge, and our inaugural doctoral consortium. For the archival track of EMERGE, we received 19 submissions, 10 of which got directly accepted and 4 conditionally accepted. For the non-archival track, we received 9 submissions, 4 of which were given an oral spot. In our doctoral consortium, we received 40 submissions, 9 of which were directly rejected. The remaining 31 are still in review. We received 11 submissions for our MICCAI Educational Challenge, which are currently in internal review.

 

EMERGE Workshop (23 September, starting 08:00)

emergeThe MICCAI Student Board organizes its second EMERGE workshop, organized by students, for students. The workshop will take place as a half-day event on Tuesday, 23 September. We will have 4 oral sessions, a poster session, and a keynote talk. The complete list of accepted papers and our workshop schedule can be found on our website. The papers will be published in Springer LNCS workshop proceedings; outstanding papers will be invited to submit an extended version to the MELBA journal. 

 

Academia & Industry Panel (24 September, starting 17:00)

The MSB hosts another academia and industry panel providing an opportunity for professional development and networking. The event will take place on Wednesday, 24 September. The first hour will feature a panel discussion on career development and the differences between research in academia and the corporate sector. After that, we will have a networking session in a speed-dating format.

 

MSB Lunch & PhD Thesis Madness (25 September, starting 12:30)

On 25 September, we will have an MSB lunch featuring videos of the best submissions to the MICCAI Educational Challenge and the PhD Thesis Madness event. The MICCAI Educational Challenge is a competition fostering the development and collection of educational material in the fields of MIC and CAI. During the PhD Thesis Madness, final-year PhD students will present their PhD theses in a 3-minute oral presentation.

 

Doctoral Consortium Poster Presentation (24, 25, 26 September)

doctoralThroughout the main conference, we will have posters from the doctoral consortium on display. In the doctoral consortium, emerging scholars can showcase the work of their PhD theses. The doctoral consortium poster booth offers an opportunity for attendees to engage in discussions with the students. The submissions will be featured in the MICCAI Emerging Scholars collection.

 

City Tours and Soccer Match

Next to the academic events, we have additional relaxed events for exploring the city of Daejeon and connecting with peers. We will guide a half-day and a full-day city tour on 27 and 28 September, respectively. Also, we will host a soccer game on 26 September, after the end of the main conference.
