The MICCAI Society has been seeing increasing involvement by clinicians in main and sub-events at the MICCAI conferences. Recent examples being the joint panels with RSNA, and the introduction of Clinical Chairs and clinical sessions in the main conference since 2023. CLINICCAI has also become a mainstream event of our MICCAI conferences.

The MICCAI Board has therefore established the Clinical Working Group of which I am privileged to chair. This is a new working group of the Board formed to continue fostering these connections. Its mission is to bring the communities of clinicians and MICCAI researchers and engineers closer together through events and activities throughout the year so that advancements can find easier and faster clinical translation to benefit society. The working group consists of clinicians (radiologists, interventional specialists) and researchers from the medical imaging community who are working at the intersection of these fields in both MIC and CAI areas.

The new Clinical Translation Talk Series, organized by the Clinical Working Group, will feature clinicians and researchers who are working at the intersection of these areas to highlight the problems and lessons learned. Our first speaker will be Prof. Tessa Cook from the University of Pennsylvania who will be speaking about “Solving for X: Identifying Clinically Relevant Problems in Medical Imaging”.  Her presentation abstract and bio and can be found here. The webinar will be held on September 24, hosted by Dr. Charles Kahn and organized by Dr. Dan Hashimoto. Registration is free and open to everyone.

MICCAI 2024 is now less than a month away!  Congratulations to the Conference Organizing Committee for their tireless dedication to bring MICCAI to the African continent for the first time. The conference program, including orals and poster sessions, as well as the Satellite event listing, are available on the conference website. Our congratulations to the authors whose papers have been selected for oral and spotlight presentations. We look forward to learning about your work and hearing your presentations.

We hope that you have registered and are making plans to visit Marrakesh. Don't miss this opportunity to be a part of the largest annual gathering of our community.  You can still register here. We look forward to connecting with you.
