I am happy to share with you the spring 2025 edition of the MICCAI Quarterly, which includes updates from the MICCAI Society Board, the MICCAI Student Board, Women in MICCAI, and RISE-MICCAI. As we begin 2025, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued enthusiasm and commitment to our vibrant community.

In January, we introduced you to three new members of the MICCAI Society Board: Stamatia (Matina) Giannarou, Junzhou Huang, and Mohammad Yaqub. (Read our announcement here) We are excited to bring their unique perspectives and expertise to help the MICCAI Society flourish as a leading diverse, international forum for research, education and scientific excellence in medical image computing and computer-assisted interventions. Matina, Junzhou and Mohammad are now onboard and I encourage you to interact with them and the entire MICCAI Board.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Caroline Essert, Le Lu, and Tanveer Syeda-Mahmood for their outstanding contributions to the Society. Caroline has been an invaluable leader as our President since 2022 as she navigated the challenges of holding virtual conferences and fostered increased diversity and global engagement at MICCAI. Thanks to her, we have a strong Code of Conduct. Caroline was also General Chair of MICCAI 2021 when the first edition of CLINICCAI took place. I have learned a lot from Caroline.

Le, Tanveer and I joined the MICCAI Board together in 2021. Since then, Le has done exceptional work as the lead of the Industry Working Group and spearheaded the bi-monthly MICCAI Industry Talk Series. Tanveer’s significant contributions include the creation of the Clinical Working Group and serving as the General Co-Chair of MICCAI 2023. We thank them for their unwavering dedication and exemplary service over the past four years!

Looking forward, MICCAI 2025, which will be held in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, is only six months away and I am ready to make my travel plans. The conference’s organizing committee has worked tirelessly to create an exceptional platform for showcasing your cutting-edge scientific research. I am thrilled to let you know that the numbers of submissions this year is higher than ever. Thank you for your engagement and congratulations to the organizers! Read Jinah Park’s update on behalf of the MICCAI 2025 Organizing Committee in this issue of MICCAI Quarterly to learn about the exciting plans in store.

As I begin my first year as President, I am eager to learn how the MICCAI Society can grow and increase engagement with the community (Watch my welcome address here). MICCAI has been my professional home throughout my career, and I hope it continues to be for you as well. In the coming months, I will reach out to you to learn more about how I, and the Board, can enhance the range of benefits to our members and make the MICCAI Society stronger. As always, I welcome you to connect with me or the board members anytime to share your suggestions and ideas on all of these points.

Sincerely,

Marius
