Message from the Board

Hello MICCAI Community!

MGL PortraitEarlier in June, I represented the MICCAI Society at the 22nd European Congress on Digital Pathology. Our alliance with the European Society of Digital and Integrative Pathology (ESDIP), which I announced at MICCAI 2025, is one of three partnerships established in the last year to foster clinical collaboration and translation. Our agreements with ESDIP, the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and, most recently, the Asian Society of Digital Pathology (ASDP) will further advance the innovative work of the MICCAI community.

You will soon see our new MICCAI Society website, designed under the leadership of the Communications Working Group. Our new look reflects the Society’s identity as an innovative, forward-looking, and welcoming community. I also invite you to read more about the activities of our MICCAI Society Board in this newsletter, including updates from the Career Advancement Working Group and the Education Working Group, introducing a new Special Interest Group.

Looking ahead, our annual Board election will be launching soon with the call for nominations for the member-elected representative. Want to get involved? Watch for announcements in July.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to Terry Peters for his service to theSociety as MICCAI Fellows Nominations Officer for the past 12 years. Under his leadership, the MICCAI Fellowship Program has remained one of our most prestigious honours. Thank you, Terry!

MICCAI 2026 is only three months away with an exciting program under the theme “Clinical Translation Empowered MICCAI”. Congratulations to the authors of the 1,211 papers accepted this year. As you will read in Mohammad Yaqub’s update, over 4,400 papers were reviewed by more than 3,900 reviewers and 244 Area Chairs. This is a significant community effort, and we thank all contributors for sharing their expertise and valuable time to help maintain our conference’s high scientific standards.

Strasbourg awaits! Read Caroline Essert’s recommendations of places to visit and local cuisine to enjoy while you’re there.  See you in September!

Regards,

Marius
